Alternative Fee Structures and the Importance of Community with Alan Moore

Episode: 013

In this episode of Maximum Advisor, host Chip Munn is joined by Alan Moore, CEO and Co-Founder of the XY Planning Network, and CEO of Advice Pay, which serves as a payment processor for financial advisors.

Alan spent his career in financial planning, having earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Family Financial Planning from the University of Georgia. After years working for a few fee-only RIAs and having been let go from his last one, Alan decided it was time for a path change. So in 2012, at the ripe age of 25, Alan started his own RIA, Serenity Financial Consulting, a name which fit his vision of spending his days helping his own generation navigate financial planning and wealth building.

Listen in as Chip and Alan discuss:

  • How (and why) Alan went from running a successful RIA serving clients, to serving advisors that were interested in starting and running their own businesses.
  • The opportunities presented by and structure needed to serve clients that don't have assets to qualify for an AUM-based advisory relationship.
  • Ways to cultivate community and culture in your business as well as find it for yourself in your professional associations.
  • Common mental health struggles among those in the financial industry, and how to ensure you are taking care of yourself.

The goal of this show is to develop a community of advisors who are focused on being better advisors, better business owners, and better people. People are wired to be in community, we hope you join ours at http://bit.ly/maxadvisorgroup
